The Third Order is divided into two branches: secular and regular. The secular branch (OFS) are men and women who strive to follow the Gospel through the example of St. Francis. The OFS is represented at Mt. Alvernia and is very active.
The Regulars are men and women who follow the Third Order Rule in communty. The TOR Franciscans, the Franciscan Brothers of Brooklyn , and many of the active Religious Sisters' communities fall into this branch of the Order.
