Celebrating our 67th year of the Christmas lighting at Mount Alvernia!

Mount Alvernia began lighting its buildings in 1949 for the Christmas season. It was a time to show Christ, the Light of the World, who has brought humble forgiveness. Since that time, we have continued the tradition recalling the coming of the Redeemer.

The Mount Alvernia Annual Lighting Ceremony is at 7PM on Sunday, December 17, 2017. The ceremony includes the Solemn Service of Evening Prayer with music provided by the Student Singers from Our Lady of Lourdes High School, Poughkeepsie, NY. The ceremony concludes with the lighting of Mount Alvernia. A social gathering will follow in the retreat dining room. You are cordially invited to attend.

These lights will shine each day from December 17th to January 6th (Little Christmas or the Feast of the Epiphany). We invite you to dedicate a light or lights in honor or in memory of a loved one, a family member or friend--living or deceased. They will be remembered during this time in each celebrated Mass and in our community prayer. A donation of $10.00 is asked for each person remembered to help defray the enormous cost of lights. To enroll your family member or friend, complete and return this form.

May His peace be with you and your family.
